Method for determining aggregate abrasion (AAV)
The silica sand meets the specifications of Annex A.4.1 and A.4.3 under the term “abrasive” and corresponds to the method for determining the aggregate abrasion value (AAV) which provides a measure of the resistance of the aggregate to surface wear resulting from abrasion caused by circulation.
A quantity of approximately 30 kg is required for each test.
CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL CARACTERISTICS
The sand EN 1097-8 is composed of natural silica sand with:
- silica content exceeding 98%
- water content lower than 0.1%.
- average density is 2.63 t/m3.
The constituent grains of this sand are unground and rounded in shape.
The grading is set by EN1097-8:2009 standard Annex A / sections A.4.1 and A.4.3
Production controls are carried out by SNL laboratory and result in a certificate of analysis and conformity.
